#FlashbackFriday to this fantastic #ChampioningHerGame event on #NGWSD2024. Thanks to the @bostonbruinsfoundation (#BBF), @mvymca, @everyonesaplayer, @mhtflawrence & @lpseducation, a group of middle school girls got their first introduction to floor hockey. 🏒

As you can see, it was a bug #win and included "Blades," another Boston mascot! An interactive presentation run by #BFit focused on the importance of proper food and hydration fueling one's body for improved physical & mental health and optimum performance. Female hockey players Loren Gabel and Theresa Schafzahl from the Professional Women's Hockey League PWHL Boston) also led🏒 instruction with great pep talks. There's more to do to support more Lawrence girls in sports & recreation, especially sports like hockey! We sense a new program on the horizon and are off to a good start with this tremendous #teameffort.

Thanks to this #teameffort, especially @everyonesaplayer & the @mhtflawrence of Lawrence it's been day after day of sports and wellness opportunities since last week's kickoff @ywcanema for volleyball and swimming. Look at what's up for today @mvymca and @riverwalkpavilion. It's the Boston Bruins Foundation, @nerevolution , and @riverhawknation for floor hockey and soccer, plus wellness activities. If you're a parent or older sibling, you can still sign up your daughter or sister! The collaborative effort surrounding National Girls & Women in Sports Day made the front page of @eagletribune 📰 It's from the successful @jrcelticsacademy 🏀 & sports-based youth dev clinic for hundreds of girls following their #LPS Intramural games. As highlighted, @everyonesaplayer is a key champion in this effort that’s been galvanizing partners for years, including the work of Sports Alliance Members. It's a #SundayShare that's "Championing Her Game" through an interactive girls empowerment session. Motivational speaker & NFL Cheerleader Kay Montano showcased her "embracing your authentic self" workshop to @lawrencepopwarner & Cheer and #LPS female athletes. Some #BeyondSoccer girls, too, before their afternoon futsal @ywcanema. There was lots of interaction & sharing. The girls broke up into groups and wrote what they were most proud of. Kay reminded them that it's important to recognize one's strengths and feel good about them! We agree and especially loved the she was "proud of being part of a good community."😊 We couldn't be "prouder" of our growing collaborative sports community that will continue to make more #girlsinsports opps like this possible. #TY Everyone's A Player, for spearheading, plus others for championing like @mhtflawrence @lawrencemayor, @lawrencerecreation

It’s a #TeamEffortThursday #championing opportunities for girls to play. In Lawrence and many cities, girls’ participation has dropped. That’s why dozens of sports organizations, schools, and city groups are using National Girls and Women in Sports Day (or month!) powered by the @womenssportsfoundation to bring attention to the importance of girls playing. The first event of many for girls ages 8-14 is up tomorrow at the @mvymca for a multi-sport volleyball and swimming event with @merrimackwvb and YMCA Swimming. 🏐🏊If you see this and have a daughter that age, use the QR code and sign up. That’s all that’s needed.
